Historic Fort BraggOriginally established in 1855 as a small military post, Fort Bragg quickly evolved into a thriving shipping port for the redwood lumber and fishing industries. There are galleries, gardens, and unique shops to experience. The Guest House Museum (343 N. Main St.) presents a photographic record of this early period of the Mendocino Coast. Nearby is the beautiful and charming shopping and dining district. Fort Bragg is located 16 miles north of the campground. |

Skunk TrainThe California Western Railroad (CWR), popularly called the Skunk Train, is a heritage railroad in Mendocino County, California. The CWR runs steam and diesel-powered trains and rail motor cars 40 miles through Redwood forests along Pudding Creek and the Noyo River. Along the way, the tracks cross some 30 bridges and trestles and pass through two deep mountain tunnels. The halfway point of Northspur is a popular meals and beverage spot for the railroad's passengers when locomotives turn around before returning trains to their respective terminals. |

Botanical GardensThe Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens are located on 47 acres in Fort Bragg, California, between California's Highway One and the Pacific Ocean. It includes canyons, wetlands, coastal bluffs, and a closed-cone pine forest. The Gardens were founded in 1961 by Ernest and Betty Schoefer. In 1992, the California Coastal Conservancy purchased the Gardens and transferred them to the Mendocino Coast Recreation and Park District. They are now operated as a nonprofit organization. Collections include: Camellia Collection, Coastal Bluffs, Dahlia Garden, Fern Canyon, Heather Garden, Heritage Rose Garden, North Forest, Pacifica Iris Collection, Perennial Garden, Tender Rhododendrons, Vegetable Garden and Woodland Garden, and over 80 wild mushroom varieties. This public garden overlooks the Pacific Coast and has walking paths that follow along the sea bluffs with spectacularly views. |

Point Cabrillo LighthouseThe lighthouse was built in 1909 to aid navigation. The surrounding headlands are now a preserve and there are walking trials with awesome ocean views. The Lighthouse is open daily for tours 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. |

MendocinoJust 7 miles north of Albion River Campground, Mendocino is famous for its artists, art galleries, shops, and restaurants. The Mendocino Headlands State Park is adjacent to the town center, and contains beautiful walking trails along the bluffs. |

Anderson Valley Wine CountryLocated less than an hour’s drive southeast of the campground on SR 128, the Anderson Valley is home to numerous wineries and tasting rooms. And be sure to include a stop in Booneville to visit the Anderson Valley Brewery's tasting room. |

Ten Mile River and TrailThis beautiful coastline trail stretches from Fort Bragg to Ten Mile River. Originally a logging trail, now a popular destination for hikers, bikers, and horseback riders alike. |
